Rachel Maxwell '06 graduated from Lyndon State College with degrees in secondary education and mathematics. She now works as a math teacher at North Country Union High School in Newport, Vt.
As a student, Maxwell was renowned for her prowess on the basketball court. She played four seasons for the Hornets and walked away a heavily-decorated college athlete. Her recognitions included: All-Conference Team ('01-'02); Rivier College All-Tournament Team ('01, '03); All-Conference 2nd Team ('02-'03); Weber International All-Tournament Team ('02); eight-time Sunrise Conference Player-of-the-Week; All-Conference 1st Team ('03-'04); Conference Player-of-the-Year ('03-'04); NAIA All-American Honorable Mention ('03-'04, '04-'05); LSC Women's Basketball MVP ('04, '05); All-Conference 1st Team ('04-'05); Conference Player-of-the-Year ('04-'05).
Over the course of her career, Maxwell scored over 1,800 points and pulled down over 800 rebounds.
Lyndon Athletic Director Chris Ummer remembers Rachel's career vividly. "She was a blue color worker, consistent and always working hard under the boards,' he said. "Rachel was strong - a force to be reckoned with." Rachel's opponents knew that they would have to find a way to deal with her. Ummer shares, "If you were going to stop Lyndon, you had to stop Rachel."
Maxwell spent two seasons as the assistant coach to the North Country Union girls' varsity basketball team and prior to that, she served as the freshman girls' coach.
Maxwell is engaged to Ryan Farley '02 and is the proud mother of Kody (13), Konnor (3), and Mason (1). She and her family reside in Orleans, Vt.
