Keep in SHAPE!
Vermont State University's Lyndon campus Student Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) Center opened in 1989. It houses the Rita L. Bole Gymnasium, George W. Stannard Gymnasium, Lyndon Fitness Center, racquetball courts, and swimming pool. The facility is open to members when not being used for athletic or academic purposes. Memberships are available to the public on a daily, 20-visit, or annual basis.
Membership includes use of all SHAPE Center facilities:
- Pool
- Gymnasiums
- Fitness Center
- Running Trails
- Racquetball Courts
What are the hours?
Open hours change throughout the year based on the academic and varsity athletic schedules.
How do I sign up?
FACULTY/STAFF/STUDENTS
- Complete all forms in the PAR-Q and Liability Packet. Hard copies of these forms are also available in the Fitness Center.
- Return completed forms to the Fitness Center. When all forms are completed and returned, you will be issued a sticker for your ID.
- Present your stickered ID to use the facilities! Basic equipment may be borrowed from the membership services desk.
COMMUNITY MEMBERS
- Complete all forms in the PAR-Q and Liability Packet. Hard copies of these forms are also available in the Fitness Center.
- Call Tara Nelson (802-626-6293) or email her at tara.nelson@vermontstate.edu to make arrangements to purchase a membership (cash or check) and return all completed forms. Members will be given a SHAPE membership card.
- Present your membership card to use the facilities!

Notes:
- All users must present membership ID and have required forms on file.
- Family passes include 2 adults plus dependents.
- Family visits are counted as 1 visit per family, regardless of the number of people present.
- Children under 16 must be directly supervised at all times.
- Folks 60+ are considered seniors.
- VTSU Lyndon students, faculty, and staff have free use of the facilities but must complete all required forms prior to initial use.
- All users must follow staff instructions and posted Rules and Regulations.
