The Vermont State Lyndon Hornet athletic program provides NCAA Division III competition in 13 varsity sports. The Hornets are members of the North Atlantic Conference and regularly compete for conference and regional honors.

- NCAA Division III institution, you must either have your current institution enter your name into the NCAA Transfer Portal or complete the Division III Permission to Contact Self Release and submit it to us.
- NCAA Division I or II institution, you must either have your current institution enter your name into the NCAA Transfer Portal or have the athletic director or compliance officer at your current institution give us written permission to have contact with you.
- NAIA, USCAA, or other four-year degree granting institution, you must have the athletic director or compliance officer at your current institution give us written permission to have contact with you.
- NJCAA or other junior or community college, no permission is required.
