Jennifer Warren Pushee '95 started at Lyndon State College in 1991 with a smile on her face and a basketball under one arm. In her spare time, one would often find Jen playing “pick-up” in the gym with anyone she could find to play against her. She joined the women’s basketball team in 1991 under the supervision of Coach Sue Henry. During her four-year stint on the women’s basketball team, Jen brought home her share of honors. In addition to being team captain for three years, she was a member of the Mayflower All-Conference team in 1993, 1994 and 1995. She was voted the team’s most valuable player and was the leading scorer in 1994 and 1995. During the 1995 season, she was named Magic 98 Athlete of the Week, and scored her 1,000th career point.
Not basketball season? OK. Then let’s play another sport. Jen played women’s soccer for three years, serving as team captain in 1994 and 1995. She also played women’s softball her final two years of college and was team captain in 1995. She was named LSC’s Woman Athlete of the Year in 1994 and 1995. Talented not just on the athletic field, Jen was named a Scholar Athlete in 1994 and 1995, and was the 1995 recipient of the LSC Student Affairs Leadership Award.
Her degree in sports management has served Jen well: currently, she works as a program/aerobic manager and personal trainer at the River Valley Club in Lebanon, N.H. Jen’s job includes educating people on how to be healthy and take care of themselves; she also helps people achieve goals in their daily lives. In addition to managing about 35 employees, she plans and leads trips for the club that combine socializing and having fun while exercising.
In spare time, Jen has organized three fundraising events for the Saint Jude’s Hospital raising over $7,000. She has also raised money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and participates in the March of Dimes Walk-a-thons. Jen stays active in sports by coaching 5th and 6th grade co-ed basketball leagues in the Bradford area. A lover of the out of doors and hiking, she often volunteers time to lead group hikes on the Appalachian Trail.
Jen says, “I feel I have learned a lot about my career path in the five years since I left Lyndon. LSC prepared me well for the job I have. I am working in a facility and doing the exact job that I had hoped to be doing before attending Lyndon.”
Five years ago on September 23, Jen married her college sweetheart, Gene Pushee ’93, The Pushees reside in Bradford, Vt.
