Prior to coming to Lyndon, Darcy LeBlanc ’05 attended and graduated from Champlain College in 2000 with an associate degree in marketing management. After graduating, she was unsure about returning to college, but her stepsister, Rachel Maxwell, begged her to come to Lyndon so they could play basketball together. The peer pressure worked. Darcy attended Lyndon and graduated with a bachelor degree in business administration in 2005.
At Champlain, Darcy played soccer. Her first season, she had 17 goals and 13 assists, and her team won the national championship. Her second season, she had 21 goals and 15 assists, and her team was runner-up in the national championship.
At Lyndon, Darcy played basketball and soccer. As Rachel shares, “although Darcy played alongside me, basketball was not her sport.” She played for one season and was part of the Sunrise Conference championship team.
Darcy played two seasons of soccer at Lyndon. Darcy impressed on the soccer field, receiving many honors as well as being named team captain. She was player of the week eight times her first season at Lyndon! She was the highest Sunrise Conference goal scorer with 22 goals and 20 assists. She went on to be named Sunrise Offensive Player of the Year. She earned All-Conference honors and was named to the All-American 3rd team. Darcy was the first All-American female soccer player for Lyndon! Her team were Sunrise Conference champions that year as well.
In 2004, Darcy started her second season of soccer at Lyndon with a “Spotlight on Sports” segment for WCAX. She again was voted team captain, earned several player of the week honors, and was named to the All-Conference team. She had 20 goals and 25 assists. She was named Sunrise Offensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Her team won the Sunrise Conference again that year. Darcy also excelled in the classroom, making dean’s list and receiving several academic honors.
Since graduating, Darcy has continued to play soccer and basketball. In 2006, she was played on the New Hampshire Phantoms, a semiprofessional soccer team based in Portsmouth. She now plays in women’s leagues. She is also a high school basketball referee under Dave Cowens, LSC class of 1977, and a varsity soccer referee under Frank Martell. She has organized a local women’s basketball league, women’s outdoor soccer team, women’s indoor soccer team, women’s basketball team, and women’s softball team. She has also organized and coached a youth soccer team and coached a travel soccer team with the Derby Wildcats.
Darcy has worked in the business field since graduating, ranging from manufacturing, hotel/restaurant management, construction management, and customer service. She recently returned home to Newport, Vt. to work as an international corporate accountant. She resides in Newport with her children.
