Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon men's soccer team has announced two more additions to its Fall 2025 recruiting class. Alvaro Sanchez (Indianapolis, IN) of Purrdue Polytechnic High School in Indianapolis, IN, and Xeno Williams (West Memphis, AR) of West Memphis High School in West Memphis, AR, have deposited and committed to the program. Sanchez will study Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-Professional Physical Therapy, while Williams will study Communications.
Sanchez, a left back and central defensive midfielder, was a four-year varsity player at Purdue Polytechnic. The Techies were two-time sectional finalists over that span. Sanchez was named Greater Indianapolis Athletic
Conference All-Conference and Indiana Soccer Coaches Association All-Academic in his junior year.
Sanchez was an outstanding student, and graduated magna cum laude. He was a STEM tutor for elementary school children for one year, and was a multi-sport athlete at Purdue Polytechnic. Sanchez was a four-year member of the Techie baseball team, and helped them capture a sectional championship. He is also a black belt in karate.
VTSU Lyndon head coach Zach Blaser believes that Sanchez will strengthen his back line. "Alvaro is a defensively minded player. He has an excellent defensive positioning with great timing for tackles and passes to start a counterattack. I believe he will be able to help us as both a Left Back and as a CDM as we look to solidify our defense for this season."
Peter Thompson coached Sanchez at Purdue Polytechnic. He described Sanchez as having the following attributes: "Communicative, usually loudest on the field, able to move up and down the field, high motor, great off the ball movement."
Williams, a center midfielder and striker, played three varsity seasons at West Memphis. He scored three goals and notched one assist in his career.
Blaser feels that Williams will add depth to his team. "Xeno helps finish out our recruiting class for this upcoming season. His ability to play as a midfielder and as a striker helps add depth to our offensive half and allows for competition for places. He is a patient player with the ball, waiting for the right opportunity to start the attack or control the tempo of the game when needed. I believe he will be able to cause an impact on the field as we look to score more goals and create more opportunities this season."
Sanchez and Williams join Carter Johns (Lyndonville, VT), Isaiah Petty (New Castle, DE), Perceval Hess (Sandgate, VT), Joe Buchanan (McCordsville, IN), Ryan Blaze (Clinton, MA), and Alessandro Anzalone (Eagle, ID), Parker Pierce (Woodstock, VT), Jarred Flores (Rockport, TX), Ethan Cardenas (Tracy, CA), Ben Spradlin (Albuquerque, NM), Johan Songe (Manchester, NH), and Jean Keller Thelisma (Bismarck, ND) in Lyndon's Fall 2025 class.
