Lyndonville, VT - Vermont pitchers Wyatt Cadwell (Stratford, VT) and Liam Paquette (Monroe, NH) have deposited and committed to the Vermont State University Lyndon baseball program for 2026-27. Cadwell, a graduate of White River Valley High School in Royalton, VT, will study business with a concentration in entrepreneurial leadership, while Paquette, a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, VT, will study Criminal Justice.
Cadwell helped lead White River Valley to three straight Vermont Principals Association Division 3 championship games in his freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons. He was a Southern Vermont League 1st Team all-league selection as a freshman and a sophomore. Cadwell also excelled in the classroom. He was a two-time recipient of White River Valley's Outstanding Science Scholar award.
Cadwell also played American Legion baseball for White River Junction Post 84. He was named the Southern Division Pitcher of the Year and an All-Southern Division selection.
White River Valley head coach Devin Cilley praised Cadwell for what he meant to the Wildcats. "Wyatt is one of the best players to ever come through our program. He is a very talented baseball player, but what sets him apart from others on the diamond is his attitude, work ethic, and knowledge of the game. He is committed to getting better each day and never gives up. He makes players around him better by showing up each and every pitch. Wyatt is someone I will always be glad was on my team and will make whatever team he is on better. He is a natural leader, knows what it takes to win, and will be a great addition to the Hornets baseball program."
Paquette was a member of St. Johnsbury's 2025 VPA Division 1 state championship team during his junior year. As a senior this spring, he made 10 appearances on the mound with a 3.64 earned run average. Paquette was also a consistent Honor Roll student.
Paquette played Legion baseball for Lyndon Post 30, and helped his team reach the Vermont state championship game. He had 12 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched, with a 4.40 earned run average.
St. Johnsbury head coach Chris Kendall highlighted Paquette's attitude and versatility. "Liam is a player that any coach would love to have on their team. He is a dependable pitcher who throws the ball hard and locates his pitches. Liam challenges batters keeping them off balance while controlling the tempo of the game. Whether he is starting on the mound or coming in as a reliever, he knows what it means to compete. His positive attitude is infectious and he is a great teammate. I look forward to watching him pitch for the VTSU Lyndon Hornets."
VTSU Lyndon head baseball coach Cameron Curler feels both pitchers will make an impact on his team. "These are two more guys who join our program coming from very successful high school programs. Wyatt played on three state finalist teams, and Liam was a member of the 2025 St. Johnsbury state championship team. Not only are these guys going to help our program win games, but they are both winners off the field as well. I am very excited to add these young men to our program."
Cadwell and Paquette join Daniel Kuindersma (Oakfield, ME), Jack Edelstein (Rochester, NY), Dawson Himes (Lyman, NH), Jonah Javier (Pickering, ON), Jackson Dwyer (Lyndonville, VT), and Griffin Lawson (Lunenburg, VT) in Lyndon's Fall 2026 class. The Hornets expect to announce additional commits in the near future.
