Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon baseball program has received commitments and deposits from two more incoming freshmen for its Fall 2026 class. Dawson Himes (Lyman, NH) of Lisbon Regional School in Lisbon, NH, and Jonah Javier (Pickering, ON) of Saint Mary's Catholic Secondary School in Hamilton, ON, will both study Exercise Science with a Pre-Physical and Occupational Therapy concentration.
Himes, a pitcher and outfielder, arrives at Lyndon following an outstanding high school career at Lisbon. An accomplished two-way player, he earned Division IV First Team All-State honors from the Baseball Coaches Association of New Hampshire while leading Lisbon to a 13-5 season. He was also selected to the Granite State North First Team. Himes set the Lisbon record with 17 strikeouts in a single game and blasted eight home runs during his senior season.
Before coming to Lisbon for his senior season, Himes played three seasons of varsity baseball at Windber Area High School in Windb er, PA. At Windber he earned Inter-County Conference All-Star honors. He was also earned All-Somerset county honors and was recognized as a Somerset County All-Star , a Breakout Player of the Year nominee, and a multi-time Athlete of the Week nominee by the Daily American.
Academically, Himes graduated with High Honors and ranked fourth in his graduating class. His athletic accomplishments extend beyond baseball, as he also qualified for the 2025 New Hampshire State Golf Tournament and earned selection to the 2026 New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Organization All-Academic Team.
VTSU Lyndon head baseball coach Cameron Curler believes that Himes will make an impact both on the mound and at the plate. "Dawson is a great talent and the best is yet to come. He has a huge upside both on the mound and as an offensive force, and I am looking forward to seeing him turn into a great college baseball player."
Javier, a utility player who can play a variety of positions, joins the Hornets as one of the premier athletes in his class. He brings a proven track record of success at both the high school and travel baseball levels. A four-year varsity player at Saint Mary's, Javier was named the program's Most Valuable Player and received the Pickering Baseball Association Award, presented annually to a graduating student who demonstrates a passion for baseball or softball.
On the club circuit, Javier helped lead his teams to multiple championships, including the 2023 All Prospect Wood Bat Tournament Championship in Michigan, the 2024 Premier Baseball League of Ontario (PBLO) 15U Championship, and the 2025 PBLO 16U Championship. He was also named a 2024 PBLO First Team All-Star.
Away from the diamond, Javier maintained Honor Roll status throughout high school and was active in basketball, track and field, and community service. He volunteered with Jays Care Challenger Baseball, helping provide opportunities for athletes with cognitive and physical disabilities to participate in the game.
Curler sees Javier's versatility as a big asset to his team. "Jonah is an elite athlete and has many dimensions as both an offensive and defensive player. He is a guy who will be able to compete for playing time anywhere on the field and will fit into our offensive scheme nicely."
Himes and Javier will join Daniel Kuindersma (Oakfield, ME) and Jack Edelstein (Rochester, NY) in Lyndon's Fall 2026 class. The Hornets expect to announce additional commits in the near future.
