Harpursville High's all-time scoring leader, Jayden Deleon, commits to VTSU Lyndon men's basketball

Lyndonville, VT - Jayden Deleon (Harpursville, NY) of Harpursville High School in Harpursville, NY, has deposited and committed to the Vermont State Unicersity Lyndon men's basketball program for 2026-27.  Deleon will study Exercise Science.

Deleon, a 6'1" guard, was a four-year varsity performer and three-year captain at Harpursville.  He is the program's all-time leading scorer, concluding his career with 1,267 points.  As a senior, he averaged 24.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.5 steals, 3.0  per game.  He was a New York State Sportswriters Association honorable mention All-State selection as a senior.  Deleon was also named to the Midstate Athletic Conference All-Conference 1st Team as a senior after earning 2nd Team honors as a junior and a sophomore.  He was named the Hornets' Most Valuable Player in each of the past three seasons.  In addition to his high school career, Deleon also played club basketball For Interstate Athletic.

Deleon was a multi-sport athlete at Harpursville.  In addition to playing basketball, he played four years of varsity football, three years of varsity baseball and volleyball, and one year of varsity track & field.  As a quarterback he led all of New York's Section IV in passing yards in his senior year, earning honorable mention All-State honors.  He is Harpursville's all-time single season and career leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns.  On the volleyball court he helped lead the Hornets to the MAC championship and the Section IV finals in his senior year.  He has been named Harpursville's Athlete of the Month and Athlete of the Week on numerous occasions.

Deleon has also excelled in the classroom.  He is a member of Harpursville's chapter of the National Honor Society and has made the Principal's List every year in high school.  A very well rounded student, Deleon was also a member of the school band throughout high school and earned All-County honors.

VTSU Lyndon men's basketball coach David Pasiak feels that Deleon can make a big impact on his Hornet program.  "Jayden is a terrific all-around athlete, as evidenced by his accomplishments not only in basketball but across a wide range of sports.  On the basketball court he's effective both on and off the ball and plays with a lot of toughness and confidence.  As he makes the transition to college and focuses his energies on basketball, I believe that he will take his game to a whole new level and become an outstanding player at our level and in our conference."

Peyton Dean, Deleon's coach at Harpursville, is also confident that Deleon will excel in college.  "Jayden is an outstanding player and teammate.  His work ethic is unmatched and his love for the game speaks volumes.  I have no doubt he'll make a positive impact at the college level.

Deleon joins Connor van der Sommen (Sidney, NY) and Henri Emenau (Montreal, QC) in Lyndon's Fall 2026 class.  The Hornets will be announcing additional commits in the near future.
