Waterville, ME - Vermont State University Lyndon baseball player Carlos Rodriguez (La Mirada, CA) was named to the North Atlantic Conference baseball Honor Roll on Monday when the conference announced its awards for the week ending April 26th.
Rodriguez factored in three of Lyndon's wins in a 5-1 week. The graduate student left hander tossed five shutout innings in a 3-2 win over Lesley last Wednesday, allowing five hits and striking out five without walking a batter. Then on Saturday he came in to pitch the final inning and pick up the save in the Hornets' come from behind 6-3 win at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Less than 24 hours later he threw a complete game shutout at UMPI, allowing five hits and striking out five with only one walk. For the week he allowed no runs and seven hits over 13 innings with 11 strikeouts and only two walks.
Rodriguez currently leads all NAC pitchers with a 2.45 earned run average and 43 strikeouts, and is tied for the lead win wins with four.
Rodriguez and the Hornets, winners of five in a row and nine of their last 12, return to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon when they host Fisher College in a non-conference game. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
