Looking back on a great Homecoming Weekend

Lyndonville, VT - Last weekend the Lyndon Alumni Council organized and sponsored Vermont State University Lyndon's annual Homecoming Weekend for Alumni and Families.  Numerous Lyndon State College, Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, and Vermont State University Lyndon alumni returned to campus to take part in the many activities.  Once again, Hornet athletics played a prominent part in the weekend, as the Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, the Skip Pound & Dudley Ball Legacy Golf Classic, numerous Alumni Games, and varsity men's and women's soccer and women's tennis matches were among the highlighted activities.

2026 Skip Pound & Dudley Bell Legacy Golf ClassicThe weekend kicked off on Friday with the return of the Golf Classic after several years of absence.  The tournament was named in honor of longtime Lyndon coaches and Hall of Famers Dudley Bell and Skip Pound.  72 golfers turned out for a great day on the links at Saint Johnsbury Country Club.  Anton LeMieux Financial Group was the primary sponsor of the event.

The Lyndon women's tennis team kicked off the weekend's varsity competition on Friday with a doubleheader sweep of rival Vermont State University Johnson.

Saturday began with the 5th annual Mark O'Brien Men's Basketball Alumni Game, named in memory of Hall of Famer Mark O'Brien '89.  Alumni games in women's basketball and baseball also took place on Saturday.  Every alumni game was well attended and highly competitive.

In Saturday's varsity competition, the women's tennis team hosted Simmons University and the men's and women's soccer teams hosted the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

The highlight of the weekend came on Saturday evening.  After a year absence, the Lyndon Athletic Hall of Fame and Alumni Awards Banquet took center staage.  The Hall of Fame Class of 2026 included David Cady '94, David Chase '85, Wildens Fils '15, and Anthony Moccia (honorary).

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday with a women's soccer game against SUNY Canton and the co-ed soccer alumni game.
