Lyndonville, VT - Ryan Sheehan (Fairfax, VT) of Bellows Free Academy Fairfax in Fairfax, VT, has deposited and committed to the Vermont State University Lyndon baseball program for 2025-2026. Sheehan will study Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-Professional Athletic Training.
Sheehan, a left handed pitcher and first baseman, was a three-year captain at BFA Fairfax. He recently completed his high school career by leading the Bullets to the Vermont Principals Association Division 3 Semi-finals. A year ago he capped his junior season by pitching a one-hit shutout in the Division 3 state championship game, giving BFA Fairfax its first state title since 2015. Sheehan is a four-time Mountain Division All-League selection, garnering 1st Team honors as a junior. He has thrown 58 innings in his career, posting a 1.20 earned run average. He also has a .549 career batting average. Sheehan has been selected to play in the upcoming Twin State Baseball Classic, where the top seniors in Vermont and New Hampshire square off against each other.
Sheehan also played basketball at BFA Fairfax. He was a two-year captain and earned Honorable Mention All-League honors as a junior and a senior.
VTSU Lyndon head coach Cameron Curler is excited to add a player with Sheehan's pedigree to the Hornets. "Ryan is a huge addition to our program. In addition to being acknowledged as one of the top seniors in the state, he also comes to us with a track record of pitching in big games for a winning program. We are looking forward for him to continue to do the same over the next four years!"
BFA Fairfax head coach Mike Brown, a 1992 graduate of Lyndon and a Lyndon Athletic Hall of Famer, also sang Sheehan's praises. "Baseball is about talent, attitude, effort and being a great teammate. It's also about heart. Ryan is all heart, both on and off the field. Ryan is a champion, who left BFA baseball better than he found it. Ryan holds a special place in my heart, as does Lyndon. I'm proud of him; I'm excited for him; and I'm very happy for Lyndon baseball."
Sheehan joins Eric Hernandez Jr. (Fairfax, VT), Jack Daicar (Kingston, ON), Ethan Cross (Bowmanville, ON), Devin Cortes (Ridgefield, CT), Ismael El Gharbi (Revere, MA), and Matt Nuccio (Howell, NJ) in Lyndon's 2025-2026 class. The Hornets expect to announce additional commitments in the near future.
