Saskatchewan guard Scottie Lumbard commits to VTSU Lyndon men's basketball

Lyndonville, VT - Scottie Lumbard (Lloydminster, SK) from Lloydminster Comprehensive High School in Lloydminster, AB, has deposited and committed to the Vermont State University Lyndon men's basketball program for the 2025-26 season.  He will study Exercise Science.

Lumbard, a 6'2" combo guard, played two varsity seasons for Lloydminster after making his varsity debut as a sophomore for Holy Rosary High School in Lloydminster, AB.  In Lumbard's junior season he helped lead his team to the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association Rural 5A Bronze Medal and the Elite 8 of the Provincial 5A Championships.  As a senior captain, he led the Barons to the quarterfinals of the Rural 5A tournament and was named his team's Most Valuable Player.  Lumbard averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game.  He shot 48.7% from the floor and 81% from the free throw line.  In addition to playing for his high school, for the past several years Lumbard has played club basketball for the Lloydminster Runnin' Renegades.

Lumbard has excelled in the classroom.  He has an overall average of 93.1 or a 3.8 grade point average.  He has been awarded the Academic Honor of Distinction and has been an Honors French Immersion Student throughout high school and is bilingual in English and French.  Lumbard also played baseball and ice hockey early in his athletic career.  He was a part of two provincial championship teams in baseball and one in hockey.  He also volunteers as a youth baseball and basketball coach and as a peer tutor and mentor.

VTSU Lyndon head coach David Pasiak believes that Lumbard can develop into an outstanding addition to his team.  "We are excited to welcome Scottie as the first Canadian recruit in my time at Lyndon.  He has displayed substantial growth as a player each year of his high school career, and I'm confident that that will continue as he makes the transition to college basketball here in the States.  He is a very versatile player who can score, create for his teammates, and guard at a high level.  Beyond his basketball attributes, he's a high character young man who will make a big impact on our program on and off the court.  I'm looking forward to work with him and see him become an excellent player at our level."

Scott Lumbard, Scottie's coach at Lloydminster, sang Scottie's praises.  "Whether scoring or play making for teammates, Scottie demonstrated he was a multi dimensional guard.  Along with his exceptional ball handling skills, Scottie's consistent long range shooting ability combined with laser like pin point accurate passes are offensive traits that set him apart from others.  Scottie also prides himself on his intense defensive play, often going up against the opponent's key player.  In the school and around the community Scottie's behavior and respect for others is exemplary.  In Scottie you will be getting a hard working, high IQ, team first player that has always shown a willingness to learn and go the extra mile in order to improve and be successful.  He is truly a coach's dream player."

Lumbard joins Jack Giarrusso (Greenville, NY), Jacob McPhail (Brooksville, FL), Aaric Luce (Le Roy, NY), Andrew Joncas (Danville, VT), Jordan Thibodeaux (Columbus, GA), Xavier Rainwater (Frisco, TX), Jaiden Cole (Rutland, VT), Jorden Cole (Rutland, VT), and Alex Leslie (Dalton, NH) in VTSU Lyndon's 2025-26 class.
