Waterville, ME - Vermont State University Lyndon senior women's basketball player Kadienne Whitcomb (West Burke, VT) has been named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending November 9th, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Hornet freshman guard Taliyah Carter (Ozark, AL) has been named the NAC Rookie of the Week.
Whitcomb started off the 2025-26 campaign with a bang on Friday evening. She connected on four three-point goals in the first quarter on the way to tying the Lyndon modern era program record of seven made threes in a game. She finished with 23 points, matching her career high,as the Hornets opened with a win over Vermont State University Randolph in the Vermont State University Tip-Off Classic. She added eight points as the Hornets took down Bryant & Stratton College-Albany on day two of the Classic. For the weekend Whitcomb averaged 15.5 points per game on 45.8% shooting from the floor and 40.0% shooting from behind the arc.
Carter made an immediate impact in her college debut on Friday. She posted a near double double, scoring 15 points and dishing out nine assists against VTSU Randolph. She was a very efficient six of nine from the floor and tacked on three steals and a pair of rebounds. On Saturday, she played the role of the floor general, dishing out another six assists. For the weekend she averaged 8.5 points, 7.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game
Whitcomb, Carter, and the Hornets will open their home schedule on Saturday afternoon, when they welcome Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts to Stannard Gymnasium for a 2:00 pm non-conference tip-off.
