Hornet men's soccer gets commitment from Georgia goalkeeper D'Amecio Singleton

Lyndonville, VT - D'Amecio Singleton of Woodsville-Tompkins Technical & Carrer High School in Savannah, GA, has deposited and committed to the Vermont State University Lyndon men's soccer program for the Fall 2024 semester.  Singleton will begin his college career as an undeclared major.

Singleton was a four-year varsity goalkeeper at Woodsville-Tompkins.  He also saw time as a defender earlier in his career.  As a senior, he averaged 4.2 saves per game, leading his team to an 11-5-1 record and the Georgia High School Association Class A Division I quarterfinals.  He was a 1st Team All-Region selection and the region's Co-Defensive Player of the Year.  In his junior season, the Wolverines finished 10-5, also reaching the state quarters.

Singleton also competed in track & field at Woodsville-Tompkins.  He was a member of the school's record-setting 4x800 meter relay team.

Soingleton was inducted into his school's chapter of the National Honor Society and was a member of the Beta Club.  He participated in numerous volunteer and community service projects.  He was also a student pilot and worked as a youth apprentice at Gulfstream Aerospace for almost two years.

VTSU Lyndon men's soccer coach Zach Blaser believes that Singleton will fill a key need for his team.  "We look forward to adding D'Amecio to the team.  I have been looking for a tall, strong and demanding goalkeeper that is able to make an immediate impact and he fits all of the criteria.  His work rate and distribution will be essential for the team is the upcoming season as we keep working on rebuilding the team"

Woodsville-Tompkins head coach Kalen Pinckney praised Singleton's work ethic.  "D'Amecio is the definition of hard work.  As a freshman, he joined our team during COVID and worked on getting better at defense.  Four years later, he's our team's starting keeper, team captain and the region two defensive player of the year as well as a two-time region champion.  He is tall, strong and well conditioned.  He is really determined, full of energy and will do whatever you ask of him."

Singleton joins Carson Hughes (Oldtown, ID) and Joaquin Torres (Bloomfield, NJ) in Lyndon's Fall 2024 recruiting class.  The Hornets expect to announce additional commitments in the near future.
