Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hornet men's soccer overwhelmed by NAC leaders

Lyndonville, VT - North Atlantic Conference leading Thomas College overwhelmed VTSU Lyndon, 16-1, Sunday afternoon on Varsity Field.  From kickoff, Thomas showed why it entered the match undefeated in conference play, flooding the Hornets' defense with waves of pressure and turning many possessions into a scoring threats.

Just seconds into the game, Micky Woodrow tapped in a cross from David Ivarsson to stake Thomas to an early 1–0 lead.  By the 6th minute, Woodrow struck again off an assist from Shafi Ibrahim. Tre Burgess and Ordi Bimvy followed with goals before the 13-minute mark, and Woodrow converted a penalty kick at 14:20 to push Thomas lead to 5–0.  Shafi Ibrahim added another just after.

Lyndon finally got on the scoreboard in the 21st minute with a strike from Perceval Hess assisted by Alessandro Anzalone.  That would turn out to be the Hornets' only shot on goal in the game.  Thomas found the net four more times before halftime to take a 10-1 lead into intermission.

Thomas continued to dominate territory and tempo in the second half.  Ivarsson scored in the 48th minute, and the Terriers tacked on five more goals to account for the final margin.

Thomas finished with 61 shots (33 in the second half), while the Hornets only managed a single attempt over the full 90 minutes.  Lyndon starting goalkeeper Joe Buchanan (McCordsville, IN) made eight saves in the opening half.  Parker Pierce (Woodstock, VT) recorded another eight saves in the second half.

With the loss, Lyndon fell to 1–11 overall and 0–6 in conference play. Thomas extended its unbeaten run in NAC matches to 6-0 improved to 9-6 on the season.

The Hornets will travel to Plymouth State University on Tuesday for a 3:00 pm non-conference matchup.
