In the opening ten minutes, the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers jumped out to a three goal lead against the Vermont State University Lyndon Hornet Men's soccer team. Cobleskill would hold the lead and push to a 5-0 end result.
After a quick bit of possession to start the game, the Hornets (1-13 Overall, 0-7 NAC) turned the ball over and the FIghting Tiger's Connor Fancher sent a through ball to Spencer Reisman for a counterattack goal. The Fighting Tigers (4-8-3 Overall, 1-4-2 NAC) would quickly follow up their goal when Jake Lewis converted a shot from outside the 18 yard box. Then Fancher added a goal of his own, wrapping the ball into the bottom right corner of the Hornet goal. After the three goal scoring spree, the Hornet defense stiffened, allowing no more goals before the whistle for halftime.
Cobleskill started quickly again in the second half when Gavin McEnroe headed the ball up and over the Hornet goalkeeper. Spencer Reisman would find the back of the net 12 minutes later to close out the scoring for the game. The Hornets were able to hold some possession in the second half, leading to some attacking opportunities that the Fighting Tigers did a good job of extinguishing. The Hornet would finish with 3 shots, with the lone shot on goal coming from Quinn Bressler (Norton, MA) early in the second half. Cobleskill would finish with 22 shots, 13 of them being shots on goal.
The Hornets continue their weekend in New York when they play SUNY Delhi tomorrow. Kick off at 2:30pm.
