Waterville, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon baseball player TJ Santaw (Newport, VT) has been named the North Atlantic Conference Co-Player of the Week for the week ending April 16th. Santaw shares the award with Matthew Snyder of the State University of New York at Cobleskill. He is also the first Lyndon player to earn Player of the Week honors since Codi Smith (Hartford, VT) captured the honor in May of 2021.
Santaw, a senior shortstop and team captain, had a huge week at the plate as the Hornets went 4-1, including a four-game sweep of the University of Maine at Farmington over the weekend. He had nine hits in 18 at bats, scored 11 runs, and had five runs batted in. Santaw had three triples and three doubles among his nine hits, drew four walks, and stole two bases. In the field he had five putouts and 14 assists in 21 chances at shortstop.
Santaw was 7/12 in NAC play against UMaine-Farmington. His biggest game was Saturday's nightcap, where he had a triple, a double, and a single, walked twice, scored three times, and drove in three runs.
Santaw and the Hornets return to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon when they host Norwich University in a non-conference matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm at the Skip Pound Baseball Complex.
