Farmington, ME - The Lyndon women's soccer team opened up North Atlantic Conference play by suffering a 7-0 loss at the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday afternoon.  The loss drops the Hornets to 0-5 on the season, while Maine-Farmington improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in NAC play.

Despite the loss, Hornets coach Katy Ebner saw some bright spots.  Following the game Ebner remarked "I was impressed by the amount of heart my players showed today. We stayed positive and played strong throughout the entire game. Even though we were down players our defense held strong. I'm optimistic for our week of training ahead and I hope we can continue to build upon what we've worked on so far."

Ebner also cited the play of freshman defender Hannah Lancaster (Newport, VT) and sophomore midfielder Michaela Columbia (Orleans, VT).  "Hannah controlled our defense like a seasoned veteran.  Michaela hustled to every ball and worked to provide reprieve for our defense whenever possible."  Regarding senior goalkeeper Johanna Sargent (Randolph, VT) Ebner said "Johanna had some great saves."

McKenna Brodeur (Oakland, ME) and Kaiti Kinney (Surry, ME) recorded two goals apiece for the Beavers.  Brodeur also dished out three assists.  The Beavers dominated play, outshooting the Hornets 55-0 and earning 15 corner kicks, compared to none for Lyndon.  Sargent made 25 saves for Lyndon.

The Hornets will return to action next Saturday when they host a NAC conference matchup with Castleton State University.  Start time is 3:30 pm.  Maine-Farmington will travel to Husson University on Tuesday.
