Lyndonville, Vermont - Wahaila Granillo (Albuquerque, New Mexico) of Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has deposited and committed to the Vermont State University Lyndon Women's Soccer program for the Fall 2026 semester. She will study Atmospheric Science.
Granillo has experience playing both holding and attacking midfield for the Matadors. In her career she has scored double-digit goals and dished over 50 assists. A 2-year varsity starter, she took many of the corner and free kick opportunities for her team. Her strong passing set up numerous scoring chances for Sandia. Granillo is also an active club player, as a member of AYSO United.
In addition to her role as a player, she also volunteers and coaches younger kids at her local youth soccer camps. To further spread the game of soccer, she is a volunteer with the organization TOP Soccer, helping out children with intellectual, emotional, and physical disabilities to play the game.
Lyndon Women's Soccer Coach, Zach Blaser is excited to welcome Wahaila to the program "Wahaila is an aggressively minded midfield with great awareness of the game and her surrounding. She has the ability to switch the ball up the field to start an offensive attack as well as has the ability to shoot from distance when needed. We look forward to having her on the team this upcoming season."
AYSO United New Mexico Director of Coaching, Callum Ralph, listed Granillo as a stand out talent during her time in the program, "Wahaila is one of the hardest working players on and off the field! She's always looking to improve her game and brings a wealth of experience, talent, and composure to the team. One of the best players I've had the joy to coach."
Granillo joins Olivia Morris in Lyndon's Fall 2026 recruiting class. The Hornets expect to announce additional commitments in the near future.
