Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Game 1: Lyndon 2- Hougton 0

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Lyndon State College baseball team opened up its season Thursday with a 2-0 win over Houghton College.

Jeff Williams went the distance for the Hornets to pick up the shutout win.  Williams surrendered just four hits while striking out six.  Lyndon's defense was superb behind Williams going errorless in their first time on the diamond.

Both teams were held scoreless until the top of the fifth when the Hornets were able to load the bases and Reece Tanguay drew a walk to bring in Billy Johnson for Lyndon's first run of the season.

In the top of the seventh, Ryan Cordeiro led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second on a bunt from Kevin Tufo.  Cordeiro moved to third on Andre Eason's groundout before scoring on a passed ball.

In the bottom of the seventh, Williams forced Houghton into two groundouts before striking out the last batter of the game.

Tanguay, Johnson, and Nathan Stewart each recorded one hit for the Hornets.

Game 2: Houghton 7- Lyndon 5 (10 innings)

In the second game of the doubleheader, Houghton got on the board early with two runs in the top of the first inning.  The Highlanders tacked on another run in the fourth before the Hornets answered with a run from Reece Tanguay after Jake Jourdain grounded out to third with the bases loaded.

Houghton tacked on another run in the top of the fifth before the Hornets rallied to tie it up with runs from Andre Eason Jr., David LaRoche, Josh LaRoche, and Jake Jourdain.

The Hornets were able to get a runner into scoring position in each of the next four innings but were unable to capitalize.

Houghton was able to plate two runs in the top of the tenth inning and take out Lyndon 1-2-3 in the bottom of the tenth to take the game 7-5.
