Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – The Lyndon State College men's basketball team was bested by Thomas College 81-62 in North Atlantic Conference play Friday evening.
A battle to start the first half, Thomas's Adam Carlsen tied the game at 21-21 with 8:50 remaining. Levi Barnes then hit a trio of three-pointers and a pair of free throws in four possessions to push the Terriers out to a 32-26 lead. From there the Terriers went on a 12-6 run to finish the period and head into the break up 44-32.
The Hornets continued to put points on the board to start the second half as the Terriers tallied the first nine points of the period. Thomas would stretch their lead to 33 points with 7:50 left in the game at 73-40.
With bench players getting the majority of the playing time in the final eight minutes, the Hornets outscored the Terriers 22-8 down the stretch to cut the final deficit to 81-62.
The Hornets were led by Xavier Colbert's (Manassas, Va.) eight points and eight rebounds. Kevin Love (Bristol, Conn.) chipped in eight points and six rebounds.
Barnes led all scorers with 31 points while also surpassing the 1,500-point mark in his career. Tyheem Simon added 16 points and three steals as Carlos Gonzalez chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds.
Lyndon (4-5, 2-3 NAC) takes on Maine-Farmington tomorrow while Thomas (6-6, 2-3 NAC) hosts Johnson State. Both games tip off at 3 p.m.
