Box Score 4 ORLANDO, Fla. - Despite a couple closed calls, Lyndon continued its pursuit of its first victory of the season on its 10-game road swing in Florida.
Alma 7, Lyndon State 3
In the opening game, the Scots scored two runs in the top first inning and one in the second to take a 3-0 lead. But, Lyndon responded with three tallies of their own in the bottom of the third inning. The game remained deadlocked until the top of the seventh frame when Alma scored four times to take a commanding 7-3 lead.
Pitching the final four innings in relief, Matt Launstein closed out Lyndon State in the bottom half of the frame to secure the win.
Nash threw three innings and allowed four hits and three earned runs to go with two walks, a hit batter and two strikeouts. In earning the win on the mound, Launstein went the final four frames and did not allow a Lyndon hit, striking out two and walking one in the best outing of his Scots career.
Offensively, Dylan Newton had a two-run triple for the Hornets while Andre Eason and Michael Cartularo had a single and a run scored. James Mundy took the loss in releif of starter Jeff Williams.
Alma 6, Lyndon State 0
In the nightcap, the Scots received an solid pitching performance by Jean Soucy, who threw six shutout innings while
allowing just two hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Roderick MacNeil and Eric Strickler both saw time on the mound in a scoreless Lyndon seventh.
Alex Gauthier had two doubles for Lyndon (0-3) and Davis Guyer took the loss.
Capital 7, Lyndon 6
Lyndon puting in an outstanding effort, but could not come away with its first win of the season. The Capital bullpen doused a late Hornet rally to send them to their fourth loss of the season.
Andre Eason went 2-for-5 with two runs scored while Michael Cartularo pounded out two hits - including a RBI double - an scored a run. Ian Sacketthad a double in the contest.
Michael Raimondi took the loss in relief of starter Billy Johnson while Andrew Whalen threw three innings of no-hit relief
Houghton 15, Lyndon 5
Houghton plated 11 runs in its final three at bats to walk off with a 15-5 win over Lyndon. The Hornets led 5-4 after five and one-half innings of play but could not hold the Highlanders off long enough to secure thier first win of the season.
Lyndon's Kevin Tufo went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and the duo of Dylan Newton and Ian Sackett swatted one double each. Brandon Flood took the loss in releif of starter James Mundy. Newton, Sackett, Andre Eason, Michael Cartularo and Nathan Stewart knocked in one run each.
