Game 1: Lyndon 3, New England 1
Lyndon jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a run-scoring single by Tyler Pelletier and extended its advantage to 2-0 four innings later on Kyle Whitworth's RBI single.
Chris Sevigney's single in the sixth would produce the final Hornet run of the contest and send Sackett on to his second win of the season. He went five innings allowing no earned runs on two hits while striking out two and walking none.
Matthews came on in the sixth to record his second save of the season.
Game 2: New England 8, Lyndon 3
Christopher Smith had two hits – including a double – and Myles Comeau scored three runs to propel New England to a split of the twin bill. Steve DeLuca's two run single in the first gave the Pilgrims (7-15, 4-8) a quick 2-0 lead and Brandon Adorno's RBI single in the second extended the NEC lead to three.
That would be all Pilgrim starter Vincent Backert would need to gain the victory. He went the distance allowing one earned run on eight hits while fanning four and walking one.
Mason Brewer absorbed the loss, allowing four earned runs on five hits while striking out three in three innings of work. Sevigney and Pelletier had two hits for Lyndon.
