BANGOR, Maine – Husson swept the second of the weekend's doubleheaders with Lyndon, taking two in the Sunday edition. The Eagles won both games thanks in large part to solid starting pitching, one of their biggest strengths this season.

Nate Adams got the nod in game one and went the distance allowing one run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts. Kyle Leeman, generally the closer for the Husson squad, got the start in game two, and threw a complete game shutout, fanning five Hornets, and facing just two over the minimum.

In Game 1, the Husson offense put up 10 hits, including a pair from Josh Tardiff, who went 2-4, scoring two runs in his second start of the season. Chris Maguire, Jake Arthers and Ethan Guerette knocked in two runs apiece, while Cody McInnis and Shawn Smith each had two hits and combined to score three of the six Eagle runs in the game.

Husson started off the scoring with three runs in the top of the first. Guerette knocked in the first run of the day with a single to center that plated McInnis. Guerette stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch, and after Smith walked, that set the table for Maguire, who picked up two RBI with a single to right center. The Eagles tacked on two more in the 4th, the first coming when Arthers reached on an error that scored Tardiff who singled earlier in the inning.

Guerette got his second RBI on a sac-fly to left that plated Smith to continue the Eagle rally. Lyndon answered in the home half of the fourth when Corey Lescault (Bristol, R.I.) came up with one down and the bases loaded, and legged out what would have been an inning-ending double play, plating Shawn Lonardelli (Lebanon, Conn.) on the fielder's choice.

Husson added one more for good measure in the top of the sixth when Arthers singled to center with two outs that would score Tardiff who hit a ground-rule double to left center two batters earlier. Adams shut down the Hornets in order in their last three chances to seal the victory for Husson.

In the second game, Husson got five runs on as many hits, but that was all they would need in support of Leeman's four-hit complete game shutout. Jeremy Schichtle (Ryegate, Vt.) turned in a quality start in the loss, going the distance and striking out 5. Schichtle allowed just one earned run on the day, and no Eagle batter recorded a multi-hit game.

Husson came out swinging, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth, scoring runs in the first inning in every game this weekend against the Hornets. McInnis walked to open the game, and came around to score on a sac-fly from Guerette. Maguire continued the Eagle rally with a single down the left field line to score Arthers for his third RBI of the day.

Husson picked up another tally in the top of the fourth; with runners on the corners, Smith stole second and the Hornet shortstop bobbled the ball while attempting to cut behind the mound, and he was not able to get Guerette breaking from third on the throw.

After the one-run 4th, Leeman walked the first batter of the home half, but settled in to strikeout three in a row, and was rolling through the middle innings. Kyle Vanidestine reached on an error, and scored on another, as Husson added two more unearned runs in the top of the 7th.

Leeman came in to shut the door in the Hornets' last at bats, stranding a runner in the bottom of the inning, the fifth Lyndon State base runner left on base in the game.
