Tyler Erickson earned the win throwing a complete game allowing six hits, two earned runs, three walks and eight strikeouts. Shane O'Donell-Leach (Groton, Vt.) was dealt the loss.

Castleton opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as Zielinski notched a leadoff double to the right centerfield gap. After Jack Lancelin dropped a bunt single, Garrett Bissonette hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield for a 1-0 lead. With two outs in the second inning, Zielinski gave the Spartans a 3-0 advantage with a two-run single.

The Hornets cracked the scoreboard in the top of the fourth with a two-run single from Jeremy Rocheleau (Fairfax, VT) cutting into the lead at 3-2. Zielinski picked up his third RBI of the game in the bottom half lifting a sacrifice fly to centerfield to make it 4-2.

Castleton tacked on three runs in the eighth inning and Erickson stranded a runner at third base with one out in the ninth for the victory.
