Box Score 2 LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Lyndon State College
and Thomas College split a twin bill in North Atlantic Conference
baseball action Saturday. Thomas won the first game 12-7 before
Lyndon bounced back with a 7-4 victory in game two. Lyndon's
overall record now stands at 10-22 overall and 4-10 within the
North Atlantic Conference while Thomas has a 12-19 overall record
and a mark of 5-9 in the NAC.
In the opening game, Lyndon held a 5-0 lead early in the
ballgame but Thomas rallied for 11 runs in the top of the fourth
inning to take and 11-5 advantage. Mike Busa and Rob Nutter each
went 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs-batted-in for the
Terriers. Tim Costa, Ben Goodall, and Danny Backe all had two hits
in the win.
Patrick Hilton (Lyndonville, Vt.) stroked three
hits, scored three runs, and had two RBI's while teammate
Jeremy Rocheleau (Fairfax, Vt.) went 2-for-4 with
two RBI's for Lyndon. Jacob Chamblee picked up the win for
Thomas and Isaac Earle (Brattleboro, Vt) took the
loss.
In the nightcap, the Hornets scored three runs in the bottom of
the fifth inning to take a 7-4 lead and eventually won by that
score. Lyndon starter Shane Fleury (Plainfield,
Vt.) hurled six innings giving up four runs on two hits and struck
out two as he earned the win. Shane O'Donnell-Leach (Groton, Vt.) entered the game to
pitch the seventh inning and pick up the save.
Jake Ainsworth (Fairfax, Vt.) was 3-for-4 with
an RBI while Rocheleau and Shayne Kirby (Fairfax,
Vt.) each had two hits. Korey
