Monday, April 19 - Lyndon 6-4, Maine-Farmington 4-9

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FARMINGTON, Maine - A four-run sixth inning rally allowed Lyndon to take a 6-4 victory in the opener before a four-run seventh-inning rally gave the University of Maine at Farmington a 9-8 win in the second game of North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division twinbill at Hippach Field.

In Game 1, Jake Ainsworth (Fairfax, Vt.), Stetson Hicks (Whitefield, N.H.) and Corey Lescault (Bristol, R.I.) had one run-producing hit each in a four-run sixth for the Hornets in the 6-4 win. Shayne Kirby (Fairfax, Vt.) singled and doubled for Lyndon State, while Ben Clark (Brattleboro, Vt.) contributed two singles.

Jack MacVane singled twice and drove in two runs for the Beavers with Kyle Shea singling and doubling and Brett Wallingford blasting a solo home run.

Shane O'Donnell-Leach (Groton, VT) went the distance in the victory. He scattered 10 hits with two walks and three strikeouts. None of the six runs allowed by Farmington's Bill Ridge were earned. He went 5.2 innings with a walk and three strikeouts along with eight hits.

In the nightcap, the Beavers trailed 8-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh with Josh Garneau drawing a bases-loaded walk and another run scoring on an error before Matt Judkins' base hit up the middle to lift Farmington to the 9-8 win. Judkins led the Beavers with a single, a double and three RBI, while Matt Levine singled twice.

The Hornets had just tallied three runs in the top of the seventh to snatch the three-run lead. After Farmington leftfielder Russ Schmelzer made a diving stab of a Clark fly ball, Hicks scored from second on the play to put the Hornets ahead 6-5. Ainsworth followed with a two-run blast to put Lyndon State into an 8-5 advantage. Korey Marsh (Essex, Vt.) singled twice and homered for Lyndon State, which also received a two-run homer from Clark.

Casey Ashey (Searsport, ME) collected the win with an inning of relief. Shane Fleury (Plainfield, Vt.) did not record an out and walked a batter in the loss.
