POULTNEY, Vt. – Bryanna Astor netted the game-winner in the 78th minute, leading Green Mountain Collegeto a 1-0 victory over Lyndon.

Astor controlled a through ball from junior Erin Burch, outpaced a Lyndon defender and slipped it under on-rushing Hornet goalkeeper Samantha Smith (North Haverhill, N.H.) for the games only goal.

In a back and forth affair, both sides created a number of quality chances, but the eEagles made the only breakthrough on the afternoon. Karen Davidson made six saves for the Eagles including a pair of close-range stops in the closing minutes to preserve the win and clean sheet.

Smith corralled 10 shots for the Hornets in the losing effort. Green Mountain held a narrow 14-11 advantage in shots while the Hornets edged the eagles 3-1 in corners.
