Lyndonville, VT - Vermont State University Lyndon has released its 2026-27 men's basketball schedule. Lyndon will tip off the season by hosting the annual Vermont Steate University Tip-Off Classic. The Hornets will square off against Colby-Sawyer College in the tournament opener on Friday, Novermber 6th. Vermont State University Johnson and Vermont State University Randolph will play in the other semi-final, whit championship and consolation games on Saturday, November 7th.
The 25-game regular season schedule features 14 North Atlantic Conference matchups. This season all eight NAC institutions will play each other twice - once at home and once on the road. Other conference members include Husson University, Lesley University, Maine Maritime Academy, Thomas College, the University of Maine at Farmington, the University of Maine at Presque Isle, and Vermont State University Johnson. The top six teams in the regular season standings qualify for the NAC playoffs, with the NAC champion earning automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament..
Lyndon will compete in three in-season tournaments. The weekend after the season opening Tip-Off Classic, the Hornets will travel to Wheaton College to compete in the Wheaton Invitational Tip-Off Tournament. The Hornets will face the host Lyons on Saturday, November 14th, then either Bard College or Suffolk University on Sunday, November 15th. Then on December 5th and 6th, Lyndon will stay in Vermont to play in the annual Ed Hockenbury Classic, hosted by Norwich University. The Hornets will take on the Cadets in the opening round, then either the University of Maine at Fort Kent or Worcester State University on day two.
Another highlight of the schedule will be an exhibition game at Division I Central Connecticut State University on Tuesday, November 17th. The Blue Devils are members of the Northeast Conference, having captured three NEC championships and NCAA Tournament berths. Central Connecticut finished 18-12 overall nd 12-6 in NEC play a year ago.
Lyndon will round out the schedule with five additional non-conference games. The Hornets will travel to the State University of New York at Cobleskill, Skidmore College, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and VTSU Randolph, and host Elms College.
The Hornets will be looking to rebound from a 2025-26 campaign that saw them finish 7-18 overall and 5-13 in NAC play. Lyndon will be seeking their fourth NAC playoff berth in the last six seasons.
