Box Score Stowe, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon men's tennis team came away with a 6-1 non-conference victory over Vermont State University Johnson at Topnotch Tennis on Friday. Lyndon improved to 1-4 on the season while Johnson remained winless in seven outings.
The Hornets picked up the doubles flight by taking two of the three flights. Joe Buchanan (McCordsville, IN) and Addie Jensen (Newport, VT) won by forfeit at third doubles and Bryan Nazario (Little Elm, TX) and David Gratton (Newport, VT) cruised to a 6-0 victory over Johnson's Isabel Atkisson and Caitlyn Morey at second doubles. The Badgers averted a sweep when Adiance Cheromiah and Jack Senecal edged Lyndon's Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) and Parker Pierce (Woodstock, VT), 7-6 (9-7) at first doubles.
Singles play began with Jensen being awarded a forfeit win at sixth singles. McIntyre then made quick work of Senecal, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles. In the day's best match, Nazario rallied to clinch the match with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mohammed Semega at third singles. With the match decided, Gratton, Pierce, and Buchanan picked up eight game pro set wins at second, fourth, and fifth singles respectively.
Lyndon will return to Empire 8 Conference play next Wednesday, when they travel to Norwich University for a 3:00 pm match.
