Rochester, NY - Three Vermont State University Lyndon men's tennis players were honored by the Empire 8 Athletic Conference when the conference announced its season awards on Tuesday. Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) and David Gratton were named to the East Division 2nd Team in singles and Bryan Nazario (Little Elm, TX) was named to the Tomorrow's Leaders Team.
McIntyre, a junior, was Lyndon's first singles player this season. He was 3-2 in conference play, 8-2 in first singles matches, and 8-3 overall. McIntyre is a repeat All-Conference selection, having also earned 2nd Team singles honors a year ago. He has a 17-6 career record over the past two seasons.
Gratton, a senior, played second singles this year. He was 3-1 in conference matches, 5-1 at second singles, and 6-2 overall. Gratton was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection in doubles last season and earned North Atlantic Conference All-Conference honors as a freshman and a sophomore. He completed his Hornet career with a 23-19 singles record.
Nazario, a junior, competed in intercollegiate tennis for the first time this season. He was 6-3 as a singles player, playing primarily at the three position, and was 3-6 as a doubles player. One member of each conference team was named that institution's representative on the 2026 Men's Tennis Tomorrow's Leaders Team. This team honors student-athletes who have emerged as a leaders not only on the court, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they "compete with honor and integrity" and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.
Lyndon finished the season with a 6-5 overall record, concluding the season on a five match winning streak. The Hornets were 2-3 in the Empire 8's East Division, landing them in fourth place. Gratton is expected to graduate this weekend and Nazario is expected to graduate in December. McIntyre is expected to be back for his senior season in 2027.
