Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon women's basketball team will begin its quest for the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Friday evening, when they square off against Lesley University in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. The game will tip off at 7:30 pm in Iorio Gymnasium at the State University of New York at Cobleskill. SUNY Cobleskill captured the NAC West Division regular season championship and earned the right to host the first two rounds of the conference championship.

Lyndon (10-14, 7-6), the number two seed in the West, swept both regular season matchups with third seeded Lesley (10-15, 4-9). The Hornets cruised to a 71-51 victory at home on January 31st, then edged the Lynx, 49-45, on February 11th.
Lyndon has been led by senior guard Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH), the leading scorer in the NAC this season. Smith comes into Friday's contest averaging 19.7 points per game. She is also averaging 6.0 rebounds per contest and is shooting 40.9% from the floor and 35.1% from behind the three-point arc, and has connected on 72 three-point field goals..
Smith will be supported by junior guard Kadienne Whitcomb (West Burke, VT), who averages 9.5 points per game and has made 58 three-pointers. Junior transfer point guard Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) averages 7.1 points per game and has dished out a team high 83 assists. Junior forward Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) averages 6.9 points and a team best 6.6 rebounds per contest. Senior co-captain Kerigan Disorda (Benson, VT) averages 4.9 points per game, with 77 assists on the season.
Junior center Bella Terry leads Lesley with 12.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Senior guard Ahidali DeHuelbes averages 10.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest, while junior guard Leila Chisholm clocks in at 9.8 points per contest.
The winner of Friday's Lyndon-Lesley matchup will advance to Saturday's 2:00 pm semi-final and take on the winner of Friday's first West division quarterfinal between top seeded SUNY Cobleskill and fourth seeded Vermont State University Johnson. The semi-final winner will host the NAC Championship Game on Saturday, March 1st, and will take on whichever team advances out of the East division quarters and semis, which are being played this weekend at East top seed Maine Maritime Academy.
