Farmington, ME - The University of Maine at Farmington jumped out to a ten point lead midway through the first quarter of Thursday night's North Atlantic Conference women's basketball quarterfinal contest against Vermont State University Lyndon. the third seeded Beavers never looked back, rolling to an 80-44 victory over the sixth seeded Hornets. UMF improved to 19-7 with the win, while Lyndon concluded its season with a 14-12 record.
UMF extended their advantage to 33-19 at halftime, then put the game away with a 32-12 third quarter. The Beavers forced Lyndon into 36 turnovers while committing only 13 themselves. Jaydn Pingree paced UMF with 21 points and seven rebounds. Sarah Poli scored 12 points and grabbed nine boards. Jessica Dow chipped in with ten points, eight assists, and five steals.
No Lyndon players reached double figures, as the Hornets compounded their turnover difficulties with an ice cold night from the floor. Seniors Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) and Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) topped the Lyndon scoring column with eight points apiece. Mack grabbed a team high seven rebounds.
Lyndon seniors Mack, Huntington, and Kadienne ?Whitcomb (West Burke, VT) saw their careers come to an end with the end of the season. The Hornets expect to return nine players who will form the foundation of the 2026-27 team.
