Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon women's tennis team closed out their home campaign with a match against North Atlantic Conference leading Lesley University on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets picked up their first flight wins of the season but fell short of pulling off the upset, as Lesley came away with a 7-2 victory. The Lynx evened their season record at 3-3 and remained unbeaten in the NAC at 3-0. Lyndon remains winless in two conference matches and six contests overall.
Lesley breezed to wins in the top two doubles flights, But the Lyndon duo of Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) and Niyjah Wright (Washington, DC) defeated Lesley's Tali-Anna Sutherland and Pamela Manriquez, 8-0, in their first collegiate match. It was also the Hornets' first flight win this season.
Lesley also cruised to wins in the top five singles flights. However Huntington completed her impressive debut with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ariane Ramos in the sixth flight.
The Hornets are scheduled to wrap up their season with a pair of matches at vermont State University Johnson next Saturday. The NAC match between the Hornets nd Badgers will begin at 1:00 pm, with a non-conference match to follow.
