Stowe, VT - Lesley University defeated Vermont State University Lyndon in North Atlantic Conference women's tennis action Sunday at Topnotch Tennis Academy.
The Hornets earned a doubles victory at No. 2, where Kaylee Moore (Brandon, VT) and Jazmin Michel (Port Hueneme, CA) defeated Lesley's Emma Farris and Jill Donlan, 7-5, in a tiebreaker. Lesley claimed the other two doubles matches, with Hayley Jones and Emily Laperriere winning at No. 1 doubles by retirement and Veronika Yufereva and Lilah Engfer taking No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
In singles, Lesley secured victories at Nos. 2, 3 and 4. Emily Laperriere defeated Megan Richardson (Essex Junction, VT), 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2, while Veronika Yufereva topped Moore, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3. At No. 4, Lilah Engfer defeated Michel, 6-3, 6-1. Lesley also earned wins by retirement at No. 1 singles and by forfeit at Nos. 5 and 6.
The Hornets fell to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in NAC play, while Lesley improved to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Lyndon returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 3, when it travels to Thomas College for a 1 p.m. conference match.
