Box Score Stowe, VT - Vermont State University Lyndon got strong play from its top two players but it wasn't enough as SUNY Delhi edged the Hornets, 5-4, in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's tennis matchup at the Topnotch Tennis Academy. The Broncos moved to 2-0 in th NAC and evened their overall record at 2-2. The Hornets remain winless in three outings. The match was Lyndon's first conference contest.
Lyndon's first doubles team of Jeffrey Blais (Newport, VT) and David Gratton (Newport, VT) picked up Lyndon's only win in doubles with an 8-2 victory over Delhi's Benjamin Anderson and Hannah Shafer. The Broncos picked up wins in the other two doubles flights.
Blais and Gratton continued their impressive afternoon with a pair of wins in singles. Blais was a 6-0, 7-5 winner over Anderson in the first flight, and Gratton breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Moises Saintil in the second flight. Joseph Patrick Osborn (Hanover, NH) was Lyndon's only other winner, outlasting Delhi's Jack Madera, 6-3, 7-5, in the sixth flight. Bronco wins in the other three singles flights allowed Delhi to escape with the narrow win.
Lyndon returns to the courts on Tuesday when they travel to Norwich University for a 3:00 pm non-conference match.
