Waterville, ME - Vermont State University Lyndon men's basketball player Isaac McCann (Phoenix, AZ) has been named the North Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending February 4th, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

McCann, a senior Business Administration: Sport Management major, was an anchor to the Lyndon defensive scheme that carried the Hornets to a pair of road wins at Lesley over the weekend, the program's first ever sweep of a weekend road series against the same opponent.  On Friday, Isaac grabbed eight rebounds against the bigger Lynx, several of them coming down the stretch as Lyndon thwarted a Lynx comeback attempt and came away with a 79-65 victory.  On Saturday, he grabbed a game high 10 rebounds and came up with three steals.  In addition, he was a key ingredient in a Lyndon defense that limited Lesley's leading scorer to one first half field goal attempt as the Hornets built a 15-point halftime lead on the way to a 94-72 win.  Isaac also had a huge play at the offensive end, as his four-point play early in the second half jump-started the Hornets and shifted momentum back to Lyndon after a brief Lesley rally. 

McCann and the Hornets close out NAC play this weekend with a pair of games at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, begining with a 5:30 pm tip-off on Friday evening.
