Lexington, MA - Vermont State University Lyndon hung tough in a back-and-forth North Atlantic Conference battle against Lesley University on Saturday, but ultimately came up just short in a 109-104 loss at Minuteman High School. The Hornets trailed much of the game, but fought back to take a brief lead late in the second half. They were unable to close things out, however, and fell to 6-11 on the season and 4-6 in NAC play. Lesley improved to 3-15 overall and 3-9 in conference.
Lyndon was paced by Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY), who poured in a game-high 32 points and added seven rebounds. Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) complemented McIntyre with 24 points. Matt Doyle (Whitesboro, NY) posted a double double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Ty Bates (Hartwell, GA) chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds.
Lesley Placed six players in double figures, led by Ethan Arnold, who finished with 27 points and eight rebounds. Ryan Ellis added 17 points and nine rebounds, and Jarod Johnson contributed 16 points and dished out ten assists. Tarell Joseph, CJ Leonard, and Mateo Duran chiopped in with 12, 11, and ten points respectively.
Lyndon will travel to Thomas College on Tuesday night for a 5:30 pm NAC contest.
