Lyndonville, VT - This Saturday Vermont State University Lyndon will host the 2nd Annual Ben Lyons Memorial Scholarship Games when they face Vermont State University Johnson in a North Atlantic Conference men's and women's basketball doubleheader.

Ben was a VTSU Lyndon student majoring in Music Business and Industry.  In July of 2024, Ben's life was tragically cut short in an act of senseless violence.  He died a hero protecting and defending his family from attack.  Ben was a member of the Hornet basketball team in 2021-22, and was a graduate of Danville High School and a basketball player at Danville as well.  He had found his passion and calling with music and was thriving as an MBI student at Lyndon.  Ben had an incredibly bright future in front of him and was gone far too soon.

All proceeds from Saturday's games will go toward the Ben Lyons Memorial Jam Scholarship, a scholarship established in Ben's memory which supports VTSU Lyndon MBI students.  Anyone who would like to contribute to the scholarship but is unable to attend the game may donate online.

The scholarship was initially funded through the annual Ben Lyons Memorial Jam 3on3 Tournament held each August.  The first Ben Lyons Memorial Scholarship Games were held last January and raised over $1,200 for the scholarship.

Saturday's doubleheader will begin with the men's game between VTSU Lyndon and VTSU Johnson, which will tip off at 1:00 pm in Stannard Gymnasium.  The women's contest between the Hornets and the Badgers will follow at 3:00 pm.
