Box Score Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's tennis team hosted Thomas College in their final home match of the 2021 season. Thomas came away with an 8-1 victory in the North Atlantic Conference matchup, clinching a NAC playoff berth and raising their overall record to 6-5. The Hornets are winless in eight matches, including three conference contests.
Thomas took control of the match early with commanding wins in all three doubles flights. The Terriers picked up 8-0 wins in first and second doubles, and the Thomas duo of Renee Rossi and Cassidy Hamm were 8-1 winners over Lyndon's Hailey Demers (Lyndon, VT) and Samantha Howe (Colebrook, NH).
The Terriers clinched the match with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins at second and third singles. Rossi then downed the Hornets' Renee Chaples (Palmer, MA), 6-0. 6-2 at fourth singles. In first singles, Lauren Smith of Thomas won a hard fought 6-3, 6-3 match against Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT). Howe, playing in her first match of the season, gave the Hornets their only win of the day with an 8-1 pro set victory over Olivia Teague at sixth singles. In the final match of the day, Lyndon's Emma Powers (St. Johnsbury, VT) rallied in the second set but came up short against Hamm, falling 6-0, 6-4.
The Hornets close out the season on Tuesday when they travel to Plattsburgh State University for a 4:00 pm non-conference match.
