Box Score 2 Plymouth, NH - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon and Plymouth State University competed in a rare women's tennis doubleheader on Sunday. The host Panthers swept both matches to run their record to 5-1 on the season. The Hornets remain winless in five matches.
Match 1 - Plymouth State 9, NVU-Lyndon 0
The Panthers rolled through the match, losing only two games to the Hornets. Julie Miller and Camilla Puzio were 8-1 winners over Lyndon's Saleena Porter (St. Johnsvury, VT) and Rebekah Delgado (Jersey City, NH) at first doubles and Amelia Brown was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Lexi Foley (Newburyport, MA) at fifth singles. Plymouth swept every game in the other seven flights.
Match 2 - Plymouth State 9, NVU-Lyndon 0
The Panthers shuffled their lineup in the second match, but the results were much the same. All three doubles matches ended 8-0, and three of the six singles flights ended without the Hornets taking a game. Porter and Delgado were defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Tessa LaBarre and Miller at first and second singles respectively. And in Lyndon's best showing of the day, Foley fell to Alyssa Bettencourt, 6-1, 6-2.
The Hornets will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Northern Vermont University-Johnson for a non-conference match. Doubles play will begin at 3:00 pm, with singles matches to follow.
