Box Score Landisville, PA - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon was defeated by Lancaster Bible College in Saturday evening's North Atlantic Conference/North Eastern Athletic Conference men's tennis crossover championship match. The Chargers won all nine matches and captured the overall NEAC Championship and an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship. Lancaster Bible improves to 11-1 on the season, while the Hornets end their NAC championship season at 4-3 overall.
Lancaster Bible started the match by winning all three doubles flights. Keven Vallette and Micah Weaver picked up the first win of the night with an 8-2 victory over Ken Niemann (AuSable Forks, NY) and Garrick Webster (Terryville, CT) at third doubles. Devon Clemmer and Tyler Norris followed with an 8-3 win over Patrick Wickstrom (Lafayette, LA) and Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, VT) at first doubles. Malachi Bomgardner and AJ Kwiatkowski bested Quinlan Peer (Saranac Lake, NY) and Zach Falkenburg (Bridgeport, NY) at third doubles.
The Chargers took all six singles matches in straight sets. Weaver and Vallette won in third and fifth singles without losing a game. Bomgardner was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Falkenburg at fourth singles and Clemmer picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Wickstrom in the first flight matchup. Norris downed Mulligan, 6-4, 6-1 at second singles. In the most competitive matchup of the night, Kwiatkowski outlasted Webster, 6-3, 6-4 at sixth singles.
Lyndon completes their season as NAC champions for the first time in program history. The Hornets also finish with a winning record for the first time since 2010. Mulligan and Niemann graduate this spring, but the other four players in today's lineup are expected to return next season as the Hornets look to defend their championship.
