Box Score Northfield, VT - The Lyndon State College men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Norwich University in their final scheduled match of the 2018 season on Wednesday afternoon. The Hornets finished winless in 11 matches, while Norwich improves to 5-5.
The Cadets opened play by taking all three doubles matches. Lyndon's first flight team of Jake LaCerda (Gray, ME) and Neal Mulligan (Marshfield, VT) lost a competitive 8-5 decision to Norwich's Dylan Ackerman (Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands) and Alexi Gilmore (Haverhill, MA). The Cadets took both second and third doubles by 8-0 margins.
In first singles play LaCerda and Ackerman split the first two sets, with the Norwich #1 taking the first set 6-4 before LaCerda rebounded by taking the second set, 6-3. Ackerman then took the match with a 10-6 win in the tiebreaker. The Cadets took straight set victories in each of the other five flights.
The Hornets have no scheduled matches remaining, while the Cadets end their season with a match against Johnson State College on Thursday.
