Box Score Bngor, ME - Husson University jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one period and Lyndon State College was never able to come all the way back as the Eagles defeated the Hornets, 9-6, in the North Atlantic Conference opener for both teams. Lyndon falls to 1-5 on the season while Husson improves to 1-3.
Zach Glazier (Winthrop, ME) scored three goals to lead the Eagles. Brooks Gay (Underhill, VT) added a pair of goals and a pair of assists along wiht nine ground balls, while Brandon Bosse (Limerick, ME) chipped in a goal and two assists. Chad Merrill (Sabattus, ME) picked up 11 ground balls and goalie Matt Martin (Litchfield, ME) stopped 20 of 26 Hornet shots on goal.
Shea Jones (Hull, MA) led the Hornets with two goals and five ground balls. Ramssey Francois (North Attleboro, MA), Brandon Hunter (Glastonbury, CT), Konner Bick (North Syracuse, NY), and Spencer Aubin (Sharon, MA) each scored once for Lyndon. Marcus Bessette (Pembroke, NH) stopped 21 of the 30 shots on goal that he faced.
Husson outshot Lyndon, 47-35, held a 59-39 advantage in ground balls, and an 11-6 advantage at the face off X. Lyndon turned the ball over 32 times, compared to 31 for Husson.
The Hornets will return to action on Wednesday at New England College. Face off is set for 3:30 pm. Husson hosts Thomas College on Wednesday.
