Waterville, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's lacrosse players Elias Libby (Rockport, ME) and Alex Reed (Woodstock, VT) were among those honored by the North Atlantic Conference when the conference announced its annual men's lacrosse awards today. Conference coaches voted Libby to the All-Conference Second Team Defense. Reed was named to the Sportsmanship Team.
Libby, a freshman long stick midfielder, scored six goals and added three assists for the Hornets this season. He led the NAC in both ground balls per game (15.17) and caused turnovers per game (4.67). He also won 67 of 140 faceoffs. Libby's defining performance came in Lyndon's 11-6 victory over Cazenovia College on April 2nd. In that game he recorded 29 ground balls, the second highest total ever in a Division III game behind only Shawn McDanel of La Roche College, who had 31 against Franciscan University in 2018. He also finished with 14 caused turnovers, second only to Nathan Batallas of Anna Maria College, who had 15 against Wheelock College in 2015. Libby also won 13 of 21 faceoffs in the game, scored a goal and had two assists. He was recognized as the NAC Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 2nd.
Reed, a senior attackman playing in his first season as a Hornet, scored five goals and added two assists this season. He also recorded 13 ground balls. He scored two goals and had an assist in the Cazenovia win and scored twice at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on April 26th. Selection to the NAC Sportsmanship Team is reserved for student athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the lacrosse culture and game environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that goes beyond the playing rules and etiquette.

The Hornets finished 1-8 on the season. Reed is expected to graduate this month, while Libby is expected to return and anchor next year's team.
