Box Score Farmington, ME - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's basketball team picked up a 73-62 North Atlantic Conference win at the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets even their conference record at 2-2 and improve to 4-5 overall, while UMF falls to 2-8 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.
Victoria Carlson (East Haven, CT) had a big all-around game to lead the Hornets. The senior guard finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and six steals. Alissa Mitchell (Milton, NH) added 11 points and seven rebounds and Faith Poirier (Portsmouth, NH) also reached double figures with ten points. Alisha Celley (Cabot, VT) added nine points and seven rebounds. McKenna Brodeur scored a game high 23 points to lead the Beavers. She also grabbed ten rebounds. UMF's Molly Folsom also posted a double double with 14 points and a game high 15 rebounds.
Lyndon connected on 28 of 66 (42.4%) shots, including seven of 16 (43.8%) from three-point range. UMF only hit on 25 of 66 attempts (37.9%) and only connected on one three-pointer in ten attempts. The shooting advantage allowed the Hornets to overcome a 46-35 rebounding differential in favor of the Beavers.
The Hornets return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Colby-Sawyer College for a 7:30 pm non-conference matchup.
