Box Score WENHAM, Mass. – The Lyndon State College men's lacrosse team lost just their third game of the season Saturday afternoon, 18-3 at Gordon College.
Zachary Carey (Exeter, N.H.) scored a pair of goals for the Hornets (5-3, 2-0 NAC) while Brandon Hunter (Glastonbury, Conn.) added a goal and a team-high five ground balls.
Thor Rasmussen led the Fighting Scots (5-6, 1-3 CCC) with three goals while five others tallied two apiece. Billy Biegun recorded a game-high 11 ground balls.
The Fighting Scots controlled the game from the beginning with Nico Manganiello getting things started just a minute into regulation on a crossing pass from Nick Palandjian. Nick Tozier scored just a minute later as Gordon rolled to a 5-0 lead after one quarter.
Palandjian kicked off the scoring in the second quarter, the first of eight for the Fighting Scots in the period.
Gordon added four more goals in the third quarter as Carey broke the shutout with 3:07 to play in the quarter.
The Hornets outscored the Scots in the fourth, 2-1, including a last-second Hail Mary play for Brandon Hunter (Glastonbury, Conn.) as time expired in the game.
Both sides split goalkeeping duties during the game. Gordon came up with 12 saves, while Shane Morin (Salem, N.H.) and Marcus Bessette (Pembroke, N.H.) made four and six saves, respectively.
Lyndon is on the road again Monday at Daniel Webster at 4:30 p.m.
Gordon heads to Roger Williams on Tuesday.
