Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – The Lyndon State College women's tennis team was defeated 9-0 at Castleton University Wednesday afternoon.
Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk started things off for Castleton with a 8-2 victory in first doubles over Carina Alden (Monterey, Mass.) and Alexa Richard (Haverhill, Mass). Megan Nadler and Kayla Zsido followed with an 8-0 win over Samantha Fisher (Brattleboro, Vt.) and Haley Bouley (Holliston, Mass.), before Alexis Curley and Jennifer Blay gave the Spartans a 3-0 overall advantage with another 8-0 win in third doubles over Roze Yar (Thailand) and Savannah Jackson (Barre, Vt.).
Bannister topped Alden in first flight singles 6-2, 6-1 while Nadler topped Richard 6-1, 6-0 in the second flight. The Spartans took the third, fourth, and sixth flights 6-0, 6-0 while Emily Miller took the fifth flight over Yar 6-0, 6-1.
The Hornets (0-10, 0-6 NEAC) travel to Green Mountain on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. start.
The Spartans (7-4, 4-2 NEAC) host Johnson State at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
