Box Score ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. – The Lyndon State College women's tennis team fell 9-0 to visiting Husson University in North Eastern Atlantic Conference play Sunday morning at the St. Johnsbury Academy Field House.
The Eagles started off 3-0 after doubles with Meridith Blessard and Katie Pratt taking the top flight 8-1 over Carina Alden (Monterey, Mass.) and Nichole Jones (Lisbon Falls, Maine). Sarah Smith and Charlotte Bednarz earned an 8-4 win in the second flight over Alexa Richard (Haverhill, Mass.) and Samantha Fisher (Brattleboro, Vt.). Kelsey Pelletier and Marisa Brown rounded out doubles action with an 8-0 win over Phoebe Achinda (Hinesburg, Vt.) and Haley Bouley (Holliston, Mass.).
Due to time constraints, all singles matches were played as pro sets. Bednarz and Richard faced off again in the third flight with Bednarz taking the close 8-5 victory. Husson swept all other singles flights 8-0 to take the match 9-0.
The Hornets (0-7, 0-3 NEAC) host Johnson on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. to continue NEAC play.
The Eagles (3-1, 2-1 NEAC) host Green Mountain at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday during homecoming weekend.
